Back like a Boomerang!

I'm finally back in Toronto after spending two and a half sunny months in my home town of Perth, Western Australia.  It was my first time back in 4 years so most of my time was spent catching up with friends and family, but I did manage to squeeze a few shows into my busy schedule.

My first show was in Fremantle at the old Norfolk Basement - which has recently been revamped and renamed 'The Odd Fellow'.    The best part was I got to perform with my old band mates, David Sandercock on Piano and Stewart Robertson on Drums.  These guys are so amazing, they were good to go after one quick rehearsal!

I also did a show at 'The Ellington Jazz Club', one of my old favorites - that's where I recorded a live EP just before I left Australia in 2010.

At the last minute I was accepted into the Nannup Music Festival, a wonderful weekend event, held in a charming country town, a few hours South West of Perth.

This festival attracts International acts as well as some of Australia's highest profile bands.  I had a great crowd at my afternoon show and was pleasantly surprised to be approached by a bunch of old fans who were excited to tell me they still listen to my EPs.  It was nice to discover that after all these years of being away, my music hasn't been forgotten.

The night before I left, I performed at the Hainault Winery in the Bickley Valley (Perth Hills) It was an outdoor stage, with a scenic backdrop of rolling hills, covered in vineyards and bounded by eucalyptus trees - the perfect way to end my trip and bid farewell to Australia once again.

Aside from performing and socializing, I managed to fit in quite a bit of beach time...

Chilled out in a hammock and caught up on some reading...

Did a bit of drawing...

And even started flamenco dancing... Ole!

I also sorted through some boxes of memorabilia I left at my mums house, and realized... I've been on this music adventure for a very long time!

It was great to touch base with the South side of the planet again, but its also good to be back in Toronto, my new home.  The last 12 months have been a whirlwind of fun,  but for the remainder of 2014, I plan to stay still for a while, and focus on writing and recording the songs that have been inspired by all my travel adventures.

Can't wait to share them with you all.

Stay tuned for updates. xx
