An Island Adventure

This weeks adventure turned out to be an action packed day on Toronto Island.  It started early with a Tai Chi class which took place behind the old club house.

It was just me and a bunch of old hippies.  I didn't really know much about Tai Chi, but from what I gathered, its a bit like Karate in slow-mo.  I actually really enjoyed the meditative flow of it and found it a really peaceful way to start my day...

Next I went for a little wander around Ward island, taking in the scenery and enjoying the feeling of being out of the city and close to nature again.  Everything was so still and picturesque... summer has finally arrived!

I then made my way to the rectory cafe for breakfast and wrote in my journal for a while...

But the fun really started when I caught up with my friend/adopted little brother Thomas.  Thomas is an authentic island resident - born and bred there.  I met him last year when I was staying at the artists residence on Gibralter point.   As well as being charming and fun, he is also a very talented musician.  He sings, plays guitar, drums and bass and is good at all of the above.  But what I love most about Thomas is that he likes to live on the edge...

He encourages me to do things I wouldn't normally do on my own...  Like exploring an eroding peer...

and travelling across the island by skateboard...

He even gave me a drum lesson... (It was SO FUN!)

Perhaps most challenging of all, was that he tried to teach me musical theory and insists that I need to learn my scales! Aarrrgh! I just don't get it!! Theory is not for me - As I said to Thomas, I'm a story teller, not a musician...(Sorry brother, but thanks for trying!)

Such a cool day!...

Until the next adventure!
