Why the blog?

28th April 2013
I have always said, I will go wherever music takes me.
So far, my commitment to this philosophy has led me to various places around the world and has allowed me to cross paths with so many wonderful and inspiring people. It has also sparked the creation of a number of new songs.
With music as my compass, my path has taken a lot of unexpected twists and turns, and though I still find myself working in cafes to survive, it is proving to be a beautiful, interesting and colorful journey and one that I wouldn't change for the world.
Last month (March 2013) I had the opportunity to record my song 'Next Plane to Paris' with Canadian producer Pierre Marchand. This collaboration was a poignant
moment for me, as I first hoped to work with him as long
ago as 2005. This was certainly wishful thinking on my behalf, considering I was an unknown singer living in Perth, Western Australia, one of the most isolated cities in the world. The fact that I
actually made it happen, has reinforced for me the belief that 'anything you can
imagine you can do'...
‘Next Plane to Paris’ is essentially a song
about following your dreams and making the most of your life while you still
have the chance. As a tribute to
the song and it's underlying message, I made the spontaneous decision, a week
ago, to quit my day job and booked a plane to Paris. I have never been there, but it is something I have wished to do for a very long time. I leave in less than a week.
I have no real plan, except to have an
adventure and one that I hope will inspire some new songs. I could be gone for one month or three,
depending on how far I can stretch the little money I have. I have no idea how this trip will
pan out or where I will end up. There is nothing rational about
my decision. It's certainly not the wisest move to give up ones sense of stability. I'm scared but so excited at the same time. Adventures like this are what I live for.
I decided to create this blog as a means to document
my journey, and to give you; my friends, family and audience, the chance to join me for the ride...
Wish me luck!
